o you fight wearing armor? Feel free to join in for our Heavy Armored Combat Tournament. This page covers the rules of engagement.

Tourney Matches
Fighters will be randomly matched as pairs for each round. The first fighter in each match to receive five hits will be eliminated. The winner will continue on to the next round until only one fighter remains.

Weapons
Stick style weapons made out of high impact wood will be used. Steel weapons are not permitted. The judge will inspect all weapons before the match. Weapons deemed unsafe or likely to break will not be allowed.
Swords and most other melee weapons will be allowed, but no ranged or throwing weapons, ropes or chains. Weapons built to SCA specifications should pass. If you have concerns about your weapon please contact James at 518-872-9239 or seek out a judge when you first arrive at the fair.

Armor and Shields
Armor and shields may be crafted of metal and plastic and should appear to be in period (no football helmets etc.) The judge has the right to inspect all armor and any armor deemed unsafe will not be allowed. Armor made to SCA specifications should be fine.

Safety
Fighters should follow common sense and the directions of the Judge and Man at Arms during the competition. The following are not allowed:
Unarmed blows (punches, kicks, elbows, head butts etc.)
Tossing, flipping or throwing your opponent.

Forcing your opponent out of the ring.
Drinking alcohol during or before the match.
Real weaponry is not allowed on the fighting field, even if it is just part of your costume and peace tied.

Sportsmanship
The Judge and Man at Arms have the right to warn or disqualify any fighter for poor sportsmanship such as cheating, rhino hiding (refusing to acknowledge hits) or other unsafe practices.

Clothing
Medieval, fantasy, renaissance and pirate garb is all highly encouraged.

Registration
There is no need for a pre-registration this year. When you enter the fair you should seek out the man at arms in the arena and sign up for the tournament.
